1. What if I don’t have time to complete the workshop?
We all know that “life happens” and our best intentions to complete a project don’t always work out. So in order to assure if life does interrupt your schedule, we have allowed two months from the date of registration to give each student plenty of time to complete the workshop. Make printing off the PDF instructions your first prerogative as soon as you sign up and most importantly save the instructions to a file on your computer (see Item #4). This way you will always have the printed documents. And most videos will be under an hour which should allow plenty of time to complete the workshop within the two months time window.
2. Why offer videos as well as PDF instructions?
All of us learn more effectively in one of two ways – one by an instructor standing before you explaining and demoing the process or by interpreting photos and written instructions. Personally I learn and retain much more information if someone is there to instruct me (video), whereas you might retain more with photos and step-by-step instructions. So to cover both bases and to shorten the learning curve, I decided to offer the online workshops in both formats. Click here for instructions on how to download and save PDF files.
3. What if I begin the workshop, decide I don’t want to finish and want a refund?
The online workshops are organized so that once you register and get your password you have immediate access to the entire workshop. This includes the video and the PDF written instructions. Because of this, refunds cannot be made once you have registered and received your password. It is my desire to have happy campers out there at all times so please read the Terms of Agreement before you register.
4. How do I assure that my PDF instructions are safe for reference after my two month window for completing the workshop is over?
First, once the PDF instructions are on your computer screen, save the instructions to a file on your computer - click on save the file to my computer if you don’t know how to save a file. This way you will have access to the instructions any time you need a reference.
Second, immediately print off the PDF instructions and file them in a safe place as you will be unable to print them again once the two month window has closed. Before you file the instructions, make a note on the instructions where to find the folder the instructions were stored in.
5. How quickly can I take another online workshop?
As soon as you want – go for it!!
6. Will any of the workshops you offer online be the same as workshops you teach at shows and guilds?
Yes and no!! How is that for a straight answer? Some of my tried and true workshops such as Thread Painted Landscapes, Alpine Rose and Shading and Blending with Thread will remain exclusively for shows and guilds. However, the plan is to design an online workshop similar to those listed above in the near future. However, having said all that, it doesn’t mean that I won’t change my mind as time progresses – I mean after all changing our mind is a gals prerogative!!
Thread sketching is a different matter. At least for the near future, I will offer some of the same thread sketching workshops in class and online. As time progresses, I will evaluate online and in class workshops to see what, if anything, needs changing. Input from you is always welcome.
7. Can I share my password and PDF instructions with a friend?
Please do not share your password or PDF instructions with anyone – no matter how good a friend they are and how much they beg!! Please remember that all videos and associated material have a copyright associated with them. I have put a great deal of time, effort and missed fun times with my grandchildren in order to provide each student a professional workshop. So, please honor the copyright of my designs and if a friend asks for a “copy” of your instructions or password, think again. If your friend truly values my designs, she will be happy to sign up for her own workshop.
8. Can I email you with specific questions?
Absolutely!! However, many times the questions you have most likely are the same questions running around in another student’s mind. So you might want to post your question on the Forum first to share the information will the other students. Of course, I will always be happy to answer your thread and workshop related questions.
NOTE: I am a great emailer when I am home and will promptly answer your questions. However, when I am on the road, there may be times when I have limited time and access to a computer. So, if for some reason I don’t answer you right away, give me a bit, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
9. Why On Demand Workshops rather than starting a workshop on a specified date?
Our lives are all different, extremely busy and the free time each of us has is limited. It is not always convenient to take a workshop that is set to start on a specified date. With On Demand, each student can start the workshop on their own timetable. Also with On Demand each student has the entire workshop once they register giving them the opportunity to complete the project on their own schedule – you don’t have to wait for the next workshop to be posted.
As time progresses, more questions are bound to arise, and I will answer them as they come up. Hopefully, I will think of the questions before they arise, but if not, please let me know if you find something confusing or just downright stupid.
