From Photo to Master Pattern
Nancy Prince
Workshop Description: Many of you have a landscape photo that you want to bring to life but just aren’t sure where to start. In this workshop we will discuss what makes a good landscape quilt whether your interest lies in thread painting, applique or whatever your final medium might be. We will work through the steps necessary to bring your photo to life. Basic secrets will be shared using some graphic programs, printing on fabric and much more. So bring your questions and join the fun.
Items to bring to class
- 8 ½" x 11" color photographs or pictures of landscape design you would like to portray in fabric and thread. Bring more than one if you would like.. If you are enlarging your photographs, enlarge on bond paper not photographic paper.
- Bring other photographs or pictures (they do not have to be 8 ½" x 11") from magazines, calendars, greeting cards, or other sources you use for inspiration. Or bring several photos or combination of photos and pictures that would form a composite image of the design you have in mind. We will go over as many photographs as time permits to solidify what makes for a quality thread painted or applique quilt. *
- Notebook and pencil for taking notes
* The number of photos or pictures we are able to discuss depends on the size of the workshop.
Items needed for workshop
